I'm dieting because I've turned into a bit of a heifer. My plan is simple. Eat healthy. Do exercise. I plan to eat more fruit, less junk. I'm going to do exercise, such as riding my bike, my exercise bike, and utilising my Wii and PS3. I can't do this on my own - I seriously lack motivation. So please, post comments, keep me going, keep me motivated, and let's see if I can shed this weight. I am The Dieting Man!

The Diet Begins... Again...
I've kinda let myself go again, and knew that I was eating much more than I should during February and March. Also, I was doing practically zero exercise.
Now, I'm restarting my 'diet', but I've not got any goal in mind - apart from to cut down on rubbish and increase exercise.
Here's how it's going to work:
During the month of April, I will be eating no chocolate, no cakes, no crisps, no rubbish. I will reduce my meal portions. I will only drink water. I will go for a 1.5 mile bike ride twice a week - actually outdoors, on a real bike, and may even use my exercise bike mid-week. That's right, I said I MAY use it - steady as she goes and all that.
So that is my goal.
So on Monday, I tried my bike ride. It's just a short one really, as I said, 1.5 miles. It took me 11 minutes and 29 seconds. My heart rate peaked at 193. I don't know if that's good or bad, but, you know, 193.
So I'll keep you posted on my progress.
After April, I may start allowing treats, but April is the month to kick start my diet.
So far, I've already turned down lots of chocolate, and stopped myself from having treats. I had a banana, an apple and a carrot yesterday, and have got the same today - and I'm determined to eat them today.
So, roll on diet... and roll off... weight...

The Dieting Man: Wii Boxing and The Special K Diet: Thursday 11th October 2007
Thought I’d update you with the latest.
First of all, bad news. No milk and no Special K means that this morning’s breakfast was jam on toast.
More bad news: I didn’t go on the Wii last night – I’ve just been so shattered recently, that I’ve been going to bed mega early. Well, mega early for me, anyway.
I’ve just read this article on getting better sleep, so I’m going to put these into practice and see what happens…
Okay, onto the good news: I went on the exercise bike last night! Ten minutes. It’s been ages since I was last on it, so I took it easy – only just breaking a sweat. But I was checking out the ‘on board computer’ – sounds snazzy, but it’s not – and according to that I only burnt 7 calories. So how long would I need to go on to burn off an entire chocolate bar? Hours or days?!
More good news: I was talking to my wife last night about my weight, and saying that I want to go back down to 9 stone, which is what I was when we met. She wasn’t happy – she said that I was ‘a rake’ when we met, and the lowest she wants me to go is 11.5 stone. So that’s my goal: To lose 2.5 stone. Which doesn’t sound that bad really. Not compared to what some of these guys did in a short space of time…
So. From today, Thursday October 11th 2007, it’s no more junk food AT ALL. It’s going to be healthy food. No more coffee, hot chocolates, chocolate milkshakes or coffee mochas - it’s going to be lots of water and lots of smoothies. I’m going to try and eat 5 pieces of fruit and/or veg each day. I’m going to go on the exercise bike for at least ten minutes each day, no matter how wrecked I am, and I’m going to do Wii Boxing every day, again, regardless of how tired or exhausted I am. Nobody said that losing weight was going to be easy, and until now I’ve been just messing around. But I intend to get fit, keep fit, and lose some of this flab. Yeah!
And, of course, I’ll keep you posted.
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Day 02 - Tuesday 31 July 2007
Okay, well, after the (relative) success of yesterday comes today's offerings... I must say, I was quite pleased with yesterday. I know that I did not go on the exercise bike, which was a shame, nor did I eat entirely healthily... but I was pleased.
Oh, and did I mention that I now have a Nintendo Wii? Yes, I have... and maybe I can lose some weight playing Wii Sports or something (or SSX Blur... cool game...)
Anyway, I was shocked and disappointed to see the scales today (check out the image below, and compare that to yesterday... what do you think?)
Here we go:
Weight: 13.8
07:45 - Breakfast - 1/2 a biopot low fat strawberry yogurt
08:10 - Press ups x 30
12:30 - Ham and cucumber rolls (x2) (brown bread)
12:45 - Packet of peppermint creme poppets...
12:50 - Peppermint Creme bar...
13:10 - Banana
13:30 - 1 glass of water
14:47 - 2 glasses of water
15:10 - 1 tangerine
15:35 - 1 glass of water
16:38 - 1 apple
17:00 - 1 tangerine
18:00 - Pork steaks, new potatoes, carrots
18:15 - 1 Rolo yogurt
21:30 - 1 mocha and three biscuits...
Again, not fantastic, but check out the four pieces of fruit and the veg with me dinner! Get in - that's over the recommended 5 a Day! Rock on.
Anyway, here's the image that I took whilst on the scales this morning... I can't understand it...
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

The Diet - Tuesday 22nd May 2007
Tuesday was a good day. It was a long day, but it was a good day. I haven't been walking to work this week due to certain circumstances, but hopefully I will be doing that again soon. CORRECTION - Hopefully I will buy a bike at the weekend, so will be BIKING to work. Yeah!
Anyway, on to today's incomings:
07:30 - 2 Weetabix and Semi skimmed milk
09:15 - 1 glass of water
10:30 - 1 glass of water

12:10 - 2 Cheese and cucumber rolls
12:44 - 1 banana
12:50 - 1 glass of water
13:45 - 1 glass of water
14:45 - 1 hazelnut yogurt
15:00 - 1 glass of water
15:30 - 1 cherry yogurt
16:00 - 1 glass of water
18:00 - Fried chicken, carrotts, potatoes
18:10 - Raspberry and Mandarin juice
18:30 - Cadbury's Dairy Milk Buttons Yogurt
22:00 - Black coffee
22:10 - Peppermint creme
So, I thought I did stupendously well today - that is, until I ate my dinner which was accompanied by the CDM Yogurt, and then on the evening when I got hit by a craving for some peppermint creme. Come on though, it's sooooo nice! But you can't beat Fry's Peppermint Creme - unfortunately I didn't have any of that.
Anyway, I was quite pleased with this today, and hope to see some good results from this soon.
Until tomorrow,

Tuesday 8th May 2007
Today was fantastic. Only two slip ups really, and not too bad at that!
First of all, I forgot to mention that I walked to work again on Friday, so that was twice last week. It takes about 45 minutes each way, and I listen to Chris Moyles on the way in and Scott Mills on the way out - cool.
Anyway, I'll be keeping that up this week, I'll be walking tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday. I just hope its not gonna rain!
Anyway, on to today's incomings:
07:30 - Rice Krispies with semi skimmed milk
08:30 - Glass of Water
10:00 - Glass of Water
10:50 - Hazelnut Yogurt
11:25 - Glass of Water
12:00 - 2 white bread finger rolls with tuna and cucumber
14:20 - Glass of Water
14:30 - Hazelnut Yogurt
15:50 - Glass of Water
16:20 - 1 plum

17:50 - Glass of juice
18:10 - Thin slice of mint Vienetta
22:00 - Black coffee
22:20 - 3/4 bar of Smart Price Chocolate
So. Two pieces of fruit, two healthy low fat yogurts, a fair bit of water, two portions of veggies... and only a couple of naughty treats. Mind you, that ASDA Smart Price chocolate is delicious, and at only 25p a bar, it's great!
I forgot to weigh myself last night - what kind of hard core dieter am I? - so I will try and remember that tonight and post pictures of that tomorrow.
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Tuesday 10 April 2007
Well, I must say, it has been a long time - a long time since I sat down to do this blog. As you may have realised by now, I generally keep a record of all of my day's eatings, but don't actually subscribe it to my blog until the following day.
However, sometimes I'm that busy, that it takes me a few days to catch up. Last week, not only did I fail to catch up, but I lost the hard copies of my daily incomings. So I apologise for that.
The weekend was mega busy too, with me at a conference all weekend. Apart from munching through a bag of M&M's, it was a healthy weekend though.
Easter Monday I spent out and about, went to the forest, went to the beach, had a great time, but now I'm really sore - still, despite the fact that it's now actually Thursday... (But you leeping reading this as Tuesday, you know the score...!)
Anyway, on to Tuesday's incomings...
Tuesday was another long day spent at work, and to be honest I could just snack away. It's been quiet these past few weeks, and the long hours in the office drag. I could munch quite contentedly through bags and bags of sweets and chocolate, but I don't. I have brought fruit to work, but as you all know, it sometimes stays there a week before I eat it...
Here goes:
07:20 - Cornflakes with semi skimmed milk
08:27 - 1 glass of water
09:23 - 1 glass of water
10:29 - 3 Go Ahead biscuits
10:38 - 1 glass of water
11:42 - Cadbury's Twirl
12:09 - 2 bread rolls with tuna and cucumber
14:10 - Raspberry Yogurt
14:24 - Salt and Vinegar crisps
21:00 - Pasta with baked potato and cheese
21:15 - Fruit juice
22:20 - 1 glass of wine
I'm really disappointed with myself today. First of all, I was at work from 8:30 - 18:00, yet I only drank 3 glasses of water - I'm supposed to have one every hour. That meant that I was supposed to have 10 glasses. Then, I gave way to temptation, and devoured a Cadbury's Twirl. I saw, I bought, I ate... It felt good. THEN, I ate a bag of Salt and Vinegar crisps. I don't even really like crisps, I could go five years without eating them and not miss them for a moment. And, there was a sad lack of fruit and exercise.
A very bad day, all in all. I need to learn from my mistakes. I need to examine my weaknesses. I need to forge ahead, determined to lose weight.
I WILL SUCCEED!!!
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Thursday 29th March 2007
Well, Thursdays. What can I say? Long day. Early start this morning - got up at 6:50 - late finish - didn't get in until 23:20. So I'm wrecked... AND I walked to work! How's that for healthy living? I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed walking to work, Radio One playing through my phone, getting totally drenched in the misty weather, but feeling great when I got there. Also coming home - it takes about half an hour, but it only feels like five minutes. And, this time I didn't feel as exhausted when I came in as I did last Friday.
I would have walked to work tomorrow too, but I have a few appointments that I need the car for. Never mind. Next week I'll probably walk in Wed, Thurs, Fri. Great!
Anyway, on to today's incomings:
07:00 - Frosties - Semi skimmed milk
08:00 - Walk to work - 30 minutes
08:30 - 1 glass of water
10:00 - 1 glass of water
11:21 - 1 glass of water
11:30 - 3 x Go Ahead bars
12:20 - 2 brown bread rolls, with tuna and pineapple
13:10 - 1 glass of water
14:00 - 1 glass of water
14:50 - 1 Orange
15:30 - 1 glass of water
17:00 - Walk home - 30 minutes
17:45 - Cheese and mushroom pasty, potatoes and peas
17:50 - 1 glass of fruit juice
20:20 - 1 pint of water
21:45 - Slice of steak pie
22:00 - 1 glass of water
22:30 - Mini chocolate buttons and mini fudge.... oops!
Well, I think that I did really well pretty much all day, right up to the end there. But I'm still giving myself a pat on the back - fruit, exercise, it's all there.
I went shopping tonight, and I've changed my cereal to Cornflakes, hopefully less sugars in that, and I got a bag of apples, bag of oranges, bunch of bananas and punnet of kiwis. So planning a much healthier week!
Anyway, until tomorrow,
Adios!

Monday 26th March 2007
Well, today was a hectic day which ended in... disaster.
It started off with an early morning. After work, I had to nip in to town to do a few things. From there I had to got to my mother in law's to help her shift some furniture. Lashed home, grabbed a kind of healthy snack, had to then go and get my dearly beloved and take her back into town for a friend's leaving do (which is silly for a Monday night), that finised at 10.15, so then had to go back into town to pick her up and drop off two others! Meantime, I hadn't eaten anything. So a long day with no dinner. Grrr...
The rest of the incomings went something like this...:
07:15 - Frosties with semi skimmed milk
08:30 - 1 glass of water
09:45 - 1 glass of water
11:40 - 2 brown bread rolls with tuna and pineapple
12:20 - 3 Go Ahead bars
12:30 - 1 glass of water
13:10 - 1 glass of water
13:30 - 1 Muller yogurt
14:20 - 1 glass of water
15:52 - 1 black coffee and a custard cream
16:20 - 1 Orange
17:20 - 3x Ryvita with Dairy Lea spread
And from that point on it went to pot.... I must admit that I had a couple of bites of chocolate. I did want to go on the exercise bike - in fact there were lots of things that I did want to do, but time just rushed away from me. I was already shattered from the long, hectic day at work, and then all of the running around (well, driving, technically), just about finished me off.
Oh well. As a good friend always says, "Never mind!"
Until tomorrow,
Adios!
The Dieting Man

Friday 23rd March 2007
Well, I did it - I walked to work! It was fantastic. It only took half an hour, but I felt so invigorated when I got to work, I was buzzing! Of course, as the day wore on, and the weather turned nasty, I was left with the foreboding challenge of walking back home... I was even offered a lift home, but turned it down. When it came to 'home time', it was cool but bright, so, Radio 1 playing through my phone, I headed home. I was wrecked when I got home, half an hour later, but within five minutes I had that invigorated feeling back - it felt so great! So I'm definitely going to make a habit of it.
I tell you what's really good about spending a full day at work - you bring your lunch with you, and then that's it. No nipping into the kitchen for a piece of chocolate, no sitting around thinking, "I'm bored - I'll have something to eat." I think that's what is the trouble with weekends and evenings - it's so easy to nip into the kitchen, into a shop, and grab a bite of totally unhealthy, anti dieting food.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings - onto the good stuff - today's incomings.
07:00 - Frosties with semi skimmed milk (I've been told to cut out the Frosties because of their high sugar content - so when I finish this box I'll go back to Rice Krispies...)
07:45 - EXERCISE - WALK TO WORK - 30 MINUTES
08:15 - 1 glass of water
09:30 - 1 glass of water
10:40 - 3x GO Ahead Apple biscuits (very nice, apparently low fat too...)
11:04 - 1 glass of water
12:26 - 1 glass of water
12:30 - 2x white bread rolls, stuffed with tuna and pineapple
12:35 - 2x Muller Yogurts (again, been told that these are high in sugar... great...)
14:13 - 1 glass of water
15:00 - black coffee, 2 sugars and 1 bourbon biscuit!
15:45 - 1 glass of water
16:55 - EXERCISE - WALK HOME - 30 MINUTES
17:25 - 1 glass of water
19:00 - Pizza (Chicken, peppers, mushroom and sweetcorn) and jacket potato
So that was it people - a long day, plenty of good food (not much junk their really!) and plenty of exercise.
Now all I need is to keep that up, and get myself a decent sponsor, and make a bit of money out of my diet!!!
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Thursday 22nd March 2007
Another long day - Thursday's usually are. Unfortunately, I didn't go on the exercise bike last night - I got in at half past eleven, and I did want to go on it, but I had a bad stomach as well. So I didn't. But, to compensate, and to kick start a healthy 'new me', I'm walking to work tomorrow. So I'll let you know how I get on with that.
Anyway, on to today's incomings (please bear in mind that Thursday is Grandmother day)...:
07:10 - Frosties with semi skimmed milk
09:00 - 1 glass of water
10:00 - 1 glass of water
12:10 - 2 white bread rolls filled with succulent chicken... mmmm...
12:15 - 1 Muller Yogurt
12:10 - 1 'Good For You' chocolate bar
12:25 - 1 Muller Yogurt (yes, another one!)
13:30 - 1 glass of water
15:10 - 1 Orange
15:54 - 1 glass of water
16:30 - 1 glass of water
17:50 - Chick sticks, potatoe stars and peas
18:10 - 1 glass of orange juice
20:15 - 1 pint of water
21:50 - slice of Steak pie
22:20 - 1 mini bag of Cadbury's Chocolate buttons
22:30 - 1 glass of water
22:40 - 1 small piece of cake
Okay, so I know I was a bit naughty, eating chocolate and cakes - but look how much water I drank! Six smaller cups of water and 1 pint! I'm really pleased with my water consumption, it will help flush my system out!
Anyway, must dash, but will be back with tomorrow's intakings... and I'll let you know how I got on walking to work!
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Friday 16th March 2007
Well, end of the week. Get in! Of coruse, that means that the weekend is looming - and we all know that everyone lets themselves go at the weekend, diet or no diet. This weekend is going to be especially hard - I've got a leaving do to go to... Cue lots of cakes and sweet stuff.
Did I mention that I'm no longer keeping this blog at the weekend? It's going to be purely Monday to Friday now, unless, of course, I obtain sponsorship... hint hint HINT!
When I came home from work, my wife had managed to take the exercise bike out of the office and put it in the passageway - no mean feat, I tell you. So it is sitting there now, and I look forward to putting it to good use... soon....
Anyway, on to the takings:
07:35 - Onken Biopot Yogurt - yup, the whole thing!
09:00 - 1 glass of pure natural bottled water
10:45 - 1 glass of pure natural bottled water
12:15 - Beans on toast - lovely!
12:30 - 1 chocolate yogurt... oh oh....
12:35 - 1 small piece of chocolate swiss roll... ooops...
15:00 - black coffee
15:20 - 6 pieces of Galaxy chocolate - forced upon me...
16:00 - 1 glass of pure natural bottled water
19:00 - Pasty, brocolli, cauliflower, potatoes
19:10 - 1 glass of mixed fruit
21:00 - 1/4 pot of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream...
Okay, okay, I know what you are saying - and I agree, it wasn't a fantastic day, healthy eating-wise. But it was Friday, and everyone knows how bad Friday's are. Cadbury's MARKETED Fridays with their Thank Crunchie It's Friday, or something absurd like that...
Anyway, the forthcoming week will get better, I am more determined to work hard at this diet...
Until.. next week,
Adios!

Day 7 - Sunday 28th January 2007
Sunday was a busy day today, what with helping the mother-in-law move, and this is the first chance I have had to update the blog.
Again, unfortunately, no pics this time - maybe next time I post the pics you might see a vast improvement!
So Sunday's food and water consumption went like this:
09:30 - 1/2 Bio Yogurt - really nice, Strawberry flavour (does that count towards my 5-a-day?!)09:40 - Actimel drink. (Don't really like them, but I've got some better ones now)
14:00 - Vegetable soup and French bread - how continental!
14:10 - 1 glass of Orange juice
20:00 - Chicken Stir fry with rice (mmmmmm....)
20:10 - 1 pint of diluted water
20:30 - 1 glass of water
21:00 - 1 Kelloggs Oat Bar (really, really nice!)
22:00 - Hot chocolate with all the trimmings - marshmallows, chocolate swirls - come on, it's the weekend!
So didn't really eat that much on that day, because I was so busy.
Back to work Monday, where at least I seem to be able to drink loads of water.
You know, apparently, 80% of the time that you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty... I think I agree with that.
Anyway...
Adios!
