Alrighty There People!
Thought I’d update you with the latest.
First of all, bad news. No milk and no Special K means that this morning’s breakfast was jam on toast.
More bad news: I didn’t go on the Wii last night – I’ve just been so shattered recently, that I’ve been going to bed mega early. Well, mega early for me, anyway.
I’ve just read this article on getting better sleep, so I’m going to put these into practice and see what happens…
Okay, onto the good news: I went on the exercise bike last night! Ten minutes. It’s been ages since I was last on it, so I took it easy – only just breaking a sweat. But I was checking out the ‘on board computer’ – sounds snazzy, but it’s not – and according to that I only burnt 7 calories. So how long would I need to go on to burn off an entire chocolate bar? Hours or days?!
More good news: I was talking to my wife last night about my weight, and saying that I want to go back down to 9 stone, which is what I was when we met. She wasn’t happy – she said that I was ‘a rake’ when we met, and the lowest she wants me to go is 11.5 stone. So that’s my goal: To lose 2.5 stone. Which doesn’t sound that bad really. Not compared to what some of these guys did in a short space of time…
So. From today, Thursday October 11th 2007, it’s no more junk food AT ALL. It’s going to be healthy food. No more coffee, hot chocolates, chocolate milkshakes or coffee mochas - it’s going to be lots of water and lots of smoothies. I’m going to try and eat 5 pieces of fruit and/or veg each day. I’m going to go on the exercise bike for at least ten minutes each day, no matter how wrecked I am, and I’m going to do Wii Boxing every day, again, regardless of how tired or exhausted I am. Nobody said that losing weight was going to be easy, and until now I’ve been just messing around. But I intend to get fit, keep fit, and lose some of this flab. Yeah!
And, of course, I’ll keep you posted.
Until tomorrow,
Adios!
The Dieting Man
I'm dieting because I've turned into a bit of a heifer. My plan is simple. Eat healthy. Do exercise. I plan to eat more fruit, less junk. I'm going to do exercise, such as riding my bike, my exercise bike, and utilising my Wii and PS3. I can't do this on my own - I seriously lack motivation. So please, post comments, keep me going, keep me motivated, and let's see if I can shed this weight. I am The Dieting Man!

Wednesday 25th July 2007 - UPDATE
Alrighty There People!
Well, I haven't blogged for a while, cos I've been on holiday. Italy was fantastic... I might post a few pictures on here soon.
I'm pretty gutted because I haven't lost any weight - in fact, pizza, pasta and ice cream in Italy has probably added a few pounds and inches... never mind.
However, I have got my bike, I've got this cool wireless computer speedo thing for it, and I'm planning on using it regularly. I'm also planning on going on the exercise bike every day to try and help shave off a few pounds, and I'm going to watch what I eat even more. AND I'm going to ALDI or LIDL or whichever one it is because they've got digital scales this week for £5.00 and they'll be so much easier to read than my tiny ones at the minute.
Oh, and one more thing. I'm always getting likened to Shrek. Well, check this out Dreamworks - if you plan to do Shrek 4 with real people, I'm your guy. Saw this amongst the shops in Venice, couldn't resist getting the snap...

I'll be back soon!

The Diet - Monday 21 May 2007
Alrighty There People!
Well, as you may have noticed, I didn't blog any of my dieting activities last week - plenty of non dieting posts, but nothing to do with food, exercise or anything.
I must admit, the reason was that I had an 'off' week - I didn't feel like keeping track of it all.
However, one squint at the calendar, at the holiday looming, and then one look at the scales has prompted action - decisive action. I will curb my junk food, and participate in regular exercise. To that end, I am now actively hunting for a bike (ebay!), because an exercise bike is just no good. I used to ride my bike all the time - my greatest biking acheivement was the Whitehaven - Keswick - Whitehaven in five hours ride - a 50 mile trek. I was well chuffed with that!
Anyway, I'm going to try and be more healthy, by not taking junk food to work - just sandwiches, fruit and yogurts, and drinking more water. So how did I do with this? Check out my progress below:
07:15 - 2 x Weetabix with semi skimmed milk
09:10 - 1 glass of water
10:00 - 1 glass of water
10:40 - 1 glass of water
12:15 - 2 x white bread rolls with cheese and cucumber
14:06 - 1 hazelnut yogurt
15:00 - 1 cherry yogurt
15:30 - 1 glass of water
19:00 - Chicken Sweet and Sour with Rice
19:30 - 1 glass of diluted juice
19:50 - 1 chocolate yogurt
22:00 - 1 bar of peppermint creme
Okay, I did really well today until I hit the chocolate yogurt and peppermint creme - but that was all I did, and apart from that I thought that I did really well.
Oh, but I did throughout the morning snack on a packet of honey roasted cashew nuts - they were nice, which means they were probably bad....
Anyway, keep checking back on my progress!
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

14 Biblical Ways to Acquire A Wife!
Apparently, this was going to go into The Laughter File, but the author decided against it - but it's still really funny.
So you're single, you want a wife - what do you do? Use one of these successful methods of securing for yourself a wife!
Top 14 Biblical Ways to Acquire a Wife
1. Find an attractive prisoner of war, bring her home, shave her head, trim her nails, and give her new clothes. Then she's yours.-- Deuterononmy (Deuteronomy 21:11-13)
2. Find a prostitute and marry her.-- Hosea (Hosea 1:1-3)
3. Find a man with seven daughters, and impress him by watering his flock.-- Moses (Exodus 2:16-21)
4. Purchase a piece of property, and get a woman as part of the deal.-- Boaz (Ruth 4:5-10)
5. Go to a party and hide. When the women come out to dance, grab one and carry her off to be your wife.-- Benjaminites (Judges 21:19-25)
6. Have God create a wife for you while you sleep. Note: this will cost you a rib.-- Adam (Genesis 2:19-24)
7. Agree to work seven years in exchange for a woman's hand in marriage. Get tricked into marrying the wrong woman. Then work another seven years for the woman you wanted to marry in the first place. That's right. Fourteen years of toil for a woman.-- Jacob (Genesis 29:15-30)
8. Cut off 200 foreskins off of your future father-in-law's enemies and get his daughter for a wife.-- David (I Samuel 18:27)
9. Even if no one is out there, just wander around a bit and you'll definitely find someone. (It's all relative of course.)-- Cain (Genesis 4:16-17)
10. Become the emperor of a huge nation and hold a beauty contest.-- Xerxes or Ahasuerus (Esther 2:3-4)
11. When you see someone you like, go home and tell your parents, "I have seen a ...woman; now get her for me." If your parents question your decision, simply say, "Get her for me. She's the one for me."-- Samson (Judges 14:1-3)
12. Kill any husband and take HIS wife. (Prepare to lose four sons though).-- David (2 Samuel 11)
13. Wait for your brother to die. Take his widow. (It's not just a good idea, it's the law).-- Onan and Boaz (Deuteronomy or Leviticus, example in Ruth)
14. Don't be so picky. Make up for quality with quantity.-- Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-3)
Great stuff. For more of the same, get The Laughter File - link on the left.
Back to the diet though - I had a 'week off' from it last week, but you'll be pleased to know that I'm back and I'm determined to lose lots now. I'm going really healthy and going to be doing lots of exercise - and I am to buy a real bike next week (if you want to contribute to that, please feel free!
Anyway, keep checking back for more updates.

Alrighty There People!
Today was a successful day! I am really pleased with myself. Not only did I eat (relatively) healthily, but I went on the exercise bike! Okay, it wasn't for very long - just ten minutes - but nevertheless, it was still on the exercise bike.
Here's how the day went:
07:30 - Rice Krispies with semi skimmed milk
08:30 - 1 glass of water
09:50 - 1 glass of water
10:30 - 1 glass of water
10:40 - 1 ginger biscuit
11:20 - 2 plums (fruit!!!)
12:00 - 2 brown bread rolls, with ham and cucumber
12:40 - 1 packet of M&M's (Ooops)
13:00 - 1 packet of fruit pastils (erm...)
13:55 - 1 glass of water
15:40 - 1 glass of water
16:35 - 1 glass of water
17:00 - EXERCISE BIKE - 10 mins, 2.39 miles!!!
20:00 - Pasta
20:15 - Orange juice
21:00 - slice of chocolate cake
Okay, I'll admit that it wasn't brilliant, but it wasn't too bad either, really. I'm over the moon about the exercise bike, and I'm gonna try walking to work again at least twice next week. I know that I ate a bit of junk - M&Ms, fruit pastils and chocolate cake, but I drank loads of water, I ate healthily in general, and I included fruit.
I feel good!

Alrighty There People!
What a day, a very long day. Early start, late finish, lots to do in between.... Intake was... well, you'll see.
And I'm ashamed to say that I did not go on the exercise bike - I was going to, but I was so shattered that I couldn't bring myself around to it. So instead I watched Prison Break... Ooops.
But tomorrow I will definitely go on it, I am determined to, and I shall make time for it. And when my sponsorship comes through from any gym, I'll be ready! (Hint hint hint...)
Anyway, today's incomings went something like this...:
07:15 - Frosties with Semi skimmed milk
08:27 - 1 glass of water
09:15 - 1 glass of water
10:43 - 1 glass of water
11:25 - 1 glass of water
11:30 - 1 Snack A Jack. Never thought I would like them, but it was okay...
12:40 - 2 white bread rolls with Cheese and cucumber
12:45 - 1 hazelnut yogurt
12:50 - 1 cherry bakewell (it's kinda fruit...)
14:38 - 1 smoothie (strawberry, berries, other mixed fruit...)
15:25 - 1 glass of water
16:39 - 1 glass of water
17:45 - Macaroni cheese, chips, and corn on the cob
17:50 - 1 glass of orange juice
21:50 - 1 glass of chocolate Yazoo
21:00 - 2 Weight Watchers biscuits
22:00 - Caramel shortbread
Okay, so today wasn't brilliant - I wasn't exactly an angel in my food consumption. However, I do feel that I am getting better - I'm cutting down on the rubbish that I eat, and drinking more water. It's the evenings that get me, sitting down, watching Prison Break, eating junk. Maybe I should sit down with an orange or a banana or something.
I need to make some more smoothies too - I think that they are an acquired taste though - they're really thick and have bits in them. My problem, too, is that I drink them as a meal, whereas really they're supposed to be a replacement - you know, have a smoothie for breakfast, or have a smoothie for lunch. Not ha/ve breakfast then have a smoothie, because then really you're having two breakfasts, which is rubbish for a dieting person. Like me.
Anyway, I may weigh myself tonight, I might even post some more pictures - you know like I said initially, that I would post them daily? Kinda fell out of that habit didn't I... I'll try again.
Anyway, until tomorrow...
Adios!

Monday 19th March 2007
Arighty There People!
Well, it's Monday. The exercise bike is now out of the spare room, and in the passage. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to go on it yet - I had planned on going on it this evening, but I didn't get in from work until 6.15, and I had loads to do, which included updating a website, and watching two episodes of Prison Break... I'm going to try and go on tomorrow night, even though I generally don't get in until 9.30 on a Tuesday. Mind you, it's only twenty/thirty minutes that I need to do...
I've also decided that I'm going to walk to work twice a week. It's not too far, only about half an hour, but it's quite hilly, so should be good for me. More exercise is the key to losing more weight!
Mind you, I haven't weighed myself at all recently, probably due to the fact that I don't think I have lost any weight! Saying that, my watch has become slack recently - but who wants to lose weight on their wrist???!
Anyway, on to today's incomings...:
07:15 - Frosties with semi skimmed milk
09:42 - 1 small cup of water
11:22 - 1 small cup of water
11:40 - 2 brown bread rolls, with tuna and pineapple - nice
12:20 - Cadbuy's Caramel
14:20 - 1 small cup of water
15:45 - 1 small cup of water
18:20 - 3 mini coconut bites
20:45 - Pizza and chips
20:55 - Orange juice
22:30 - A few spoonfuls of Ben and Jerry's ice cream...
Okay, so I know that today wasn't fantastic, but I will improve tomorrow - I'm not going to eat ANY chocolate, biscuits, cakes or anything like that... I WILL eat the orange that I know is sat on my desk... and I WILL go on my exercise bike sometime before I go to bed!
Anyway, looking at sponsorship - I could really do with some sponsorship, or even some simple support! Come on people, let me hear your encouragement! I reckon I could easily get sponsorship from Cadbury's or someone like that, but that would kinda be against the whole dieting thing... So someone like Springs Healthclub or something would be absolutely fantastic. So if you're reading, Springs, (or someone who works there!), get in touch!
Anyway, until tomorrow,
Adios!

14:10 - 1 small cup of refreshing work water
15:05 - 1 small cup of refreshing work water
16:00 - 1 small cup of refreshing work water
17:00 - 1 Cheeseburger, a couple of chips, and a small bit of Pepsi...
19:00 - A handful of mini creme eggs - but they're sooooo nice!
22:00 - Plate of pasta
22:15 - 1 glass of red wine
23:00 - 3/4 bar of Smart Price Chocolate. Seriously, have you tasted it? It's so nice, and at 25p a bar, really cheap (That's ASDA price...)
Okay, so let's analyse this... hmmm. Chocolate at work. McDonalds after work. Creme eggs whilst shopping. Chocolate whilst chilling. Erm, am I even ON a diet??!
Okay, so I need to work hard at this. Now, I've already said that motivation has been set in place, and basically I've got about three months to shed some serious sloth. So, before the end of the week (Sunday), the exercise bike will be out of hiding - at the moment, it's in the spare room, covered with loads of things. Yeah, real easy to use... So that's gonna come out, I'm gonna put it in the passage where I will see it everyday, and where my conscience will prick at me until I bleed to go on the infernal machine. And then I will lose weight.
Of course, added to that, I need to seriously curb some of my eating habits. Which will start... soon.
Remember the Epicureans? Their motto was "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die." Thing is, cause of death was obesity... so how about "Eat Healthily, Drink Moderately, Exercise Regularly - And Tomorrow Will Be Another Day". Hmmm, not too catchy - any suggestions on that one?
Until tomorrow,
Adios!

Another day, another dollar... or summat like that :)

12:30 - 2x Brown bread rolls, filled with cheese and cucumber
12:40 - 1 Macaroon (naughty, naughty...)
14:10 - 1 small cup of refreshing work water
15:05 - 1 small cup of refreshing work water

Day 23 - Tuesday 13th February 2007
Alrighty There People!
Back to work today, what a shame. Was extremely busy, as I had a shed load of work to catch up on. It's just not worth the hassle, this being sick malarkey...
So after a shattering day, here's my incomings:
07:30 - Rice Krispies with semi skimmed milk
07:40 - Muller Drink
10:11 - 1 small cup of water
10:35 - Alpen Light Cereal Bar
12:30 - Pasta Bake mini meal
12:40 - 1 small cup of water
13:20 - 1 Kellogg's Oat Bar
15:30 - 1 small cup of water
16:40 - 2 pieces of Ryvita, buttered
16:50 - 1 Ferrero Rocher
17:45 - Beef, dumplings, potato, carrots, corn
17:55 - 1 glass of water
18:10 - Large low fat hazelnut yogurt
22:00 - Hot chocolate
Now that I have totally shaken off Man Flu (and it didn't half put up a fight!), I feel a lot better. So I am determined to get on that exercise bike and accelerate my weight loss. I'm also going to resume taking pictures, so you can see if any progress has been made.
As always, comments much appreciated...
